Hospitality EPOS in Birmingham for Restaurants, Cafés, Takeaways and Bars

A double-screen till for Birmingham restaurants, takeaways and cafés, with a live table plan, kitchen printing and integrated card payments, set up and supported from Erdington.

Birmingham’s food trade runs from restaurants in the Jewellery Quarter and curry houses on Ladypool Road to takeaways on Soho Road and cafés on Erdington High Street. Each of them needs a till that keeps up in its busiest hour.

SWITCH&SAVE supplies hospitality EPOS to Birmingham venues from our office in Erdington. It is Switch&Save EPOS, the same system described on our hospitality EPOS page: a double-screen till with a customer-facing second screen, a live table plan, kitchen printing and integrated card payments, for takeaway, delivery, dine-in and collection. This page covers how it fits different Birmingham venues, and how we set it up and support it locally.

What do different Birmingham venues need from an EPOS?

Venue The pressure point What helps on the till
Restaurants in the Jewellery Quarter, Brindleyplace or Harborne Full tables and groups who want to pay separately A live table plan, kitchen printing, split bills by amount, person or item, and tips
Curry houses and dessert parlours on Ladypool Road and Stratford Road Large weekend groups alongside a busy takeaway and delivery trade Dine-in, takeaway, delivery and collection on one till, with a UK postcode check and delivery fees
Takeaways on Soho Road, Alum Rock Road or Erdington High Street Counter, phone and delivery orders all at once A fast photo menu, one tap to pay or hold, and the right items sent to the right kitchen printer
Cafés in Digbeth, Moseley, Kings Heath or Stirchley A morning queue and lots of small orders A photo menu staff learn in minutes, one-tap discounts and a customer display that shows your offers

Restaurants and curry houses

On a Saturday night, every table on the floor plan keeps its own order, the right items go to the right printer, and a table of twelve can split the bill by person, by item or by amount. If you also run a takeaway counter, those orders go through the same till. Our restaurant EPOS system page goes into table service in detail, and do you need a kitchen printer? helps you plan the kitchen.

Takeaways

Counter sales, delivery orders with a UK postcode check and delivery fees, and collection orders all run from one main screen. For caller ID on phone orders, ask us what phone set-up you need. See our takeaway EPOS system page.

Cafés and coffee shops

Keep your best sellers on the photo menu, park an order with one tap while a customer decides, and let the customer display show today’s offer. There’s more on our café EPOS page.

Eat-in, takeaway and VAT

Plenty of Birmingham venues sell both eat-in and takeaway, and VAT doesn’t always treat the two the same way. In general, food eaten on your premises and hot takeaway food are standard-rated, while most cold takeaway food is zero-rated, with exceptions such as soft drinks, confectionery and crisps. HMRC’s VAT Notice 709/1 has the detail. Orders on the till are taken as takeaway, dine-in or collection, and the reports include VAT. Check the VAT treatment of your own menu with your accountant.

Card payments for Birmingham venues

The till sends each amount to the card machine, so staff don’t key it in twice, and you can take tips and split payments. Switch&Save EPOS works with DNA Payments and Teya card machines. Card processing fees are separate and are quoted by the card provider: see card machines and card machine fees.

What if the internet drops on a busy night?

You keep selling. Orders and cash sales carry on, and orders saved on the till upload automatically when you are back online. Card payments still need the card machine’s own connection.

How much does hospitality EPOS cost in Birmingham?

The price is the same wherever you are. Switch&Save EPOS starts from £349 + VAT upfront with the Complete Package. The Cloud & Care service plan is then £79 + VAT a month for months 1–12 and £39 + VAT a month from month 13, with a 12-month minimum term. A card machine is included, subject to your merchant application being approved. With the Upfront Package you can choose your card provider instead. Both packages include a double-screen EPOS till, receipt printer and cash drawer, which you own. Card processing fees are always separate.

Compare both packages, including what you pay at checkout, on our EPOS pricing page, or go straight to the Complete Package or the Upfront Package.

What the Cloud & Care service plan includes

  • Cloud: sales, products and reports sync to the cloud, so you can see your reports from anywhere. Orders saved on the till upload automatically when you are back online.
  • Automatic cloud backup of your products, sales and settings.
  • Software updates: new features, security updates and UK rule changes such as VAT, installed automatically.
  • UK support: remote support Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, by phone, WhatsApp and email.
  • Card machine as set out in your package, with no separate card-machine rental added.
  • Set-up help: we help load your menu and train your team, as agreed in your order.

The monthly fee is a service plan, not a payment for the hardware. You own the till, printer and cash drawer.

Key terms: 12-month minimum term · No change-of-mind returns · Card processing fees separate. Read the terms.
